As NGADA continues to enjoy new and experience life-transforming things under the able leadership of the coordinator, Rev. (Hon.) Nagombe Titus Joseph, It was another milestone in NGADA Special Development Area yesterday 10/10/2018 as the people of the area joined the rest of the world in commemoration of the ‘World Sight Day’ in Sunkuru, the headquarters of the development area. The event which was observed at the conference hall of the Anna Darius’ NGADA Special Development Area Secretariat, Sunkuru, was in tune with the this year’s World Sight Day tagged: Eye Care everywhere.
The programme was anchored by an Opthalmic Nurse, Mr Danlami T. Lamu (RN, ROpHN, CCT) the in charge of the Sunkuru Health Care Centre. Mr. Danlami who delivered health talk on the causes of blindness, enumerated some human activities as predisposing factors that could cause or lead to blindness. He named Glaucoma and Cataract as the two major eye diseases that could easily lead to blindness in the area.
The benevolent opthalmic nurse, Mr Danlami also carried out ‘Free Eye Screening exercise for the people in the community as he turned the event as a Free eye service outreach for the populace. He further distributed vitamin A supplements to some susceptible people and carried out a dreaming exercise to expose them to the reality of such day.
In response, some beneficiaries of the exercise thanked Mr Danlami as they maintained that, that was the first in their life that they have observed such day and the first time they have benefited from such exercise. Some staff of NGADA who came to Sunkuru from their primary place of assignment, commended Mr Danlami for such a magnanimous act and demanded him to invite more people from other villages the next time such event would be commemorated.
